  1. Starters, Movers, Flyers – Cambridge's output standards for primary students

Cambrigde is an important international English certificate issued to all ages from students, students to working people. Cambridge certificates are issued by Cambridge (the world's leading organization for English exams).

 

 

Cambridge International Certificates at Starters, Movers and Flyers levels are held and awarded by the Cambridge University English Examinations Board for students from 7 to 12 years old, recognized in more than 150 countries. These are three  English certificates  under the YLE certification system, which stands for  Young Learners English Test . The program has increasing difficulty divided into 3 levels:

Starters : for candidates from 7 years old after about 100 hours of learning English.

Movers : for candidates aged 7-11 who have completed about 175 hours of English lessons.

Flyers : for candidates aged 9-12 who have completed about 250 hours of English lessons.

The highlight of these tests is that they are all  designed to be interesting and lively, focusing on the use of language in context and in real-life situations to assess your real ability in the field. each skill of listening, speaking, reading and writing , while creating excitement and motivation for children in learning English. In addition, candidates who complete the test receive a certificate of results and there is no distinction between passing and failing. This helps create a positive attitude in the exam, reduces pressure on candidates, and gives them motivation to strive.

  • Starters is the first level of three output standards for Young English learners (YEL - equivalent to primary school students) of Cambridge English. Starters is equivalent to the Pre-A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This framework is designed to provide reference standards for language assessment, learning and teaching for all major European languages. CEFR sets international standards for curricula, course design, and language exams. It is a reliable and appropriate system for assessing children's comprehensive language ability in four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
  • Movers is the second level of Cambridge English's 3-level series of children's English. Movers is equivalent to A1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level, students can understand basic instructions or engage in a basic level real-life conversation about a predictable topic; understand notices, instructions or basic information; Complete basic forms and write short passages, including times, dates, and places.
  • Flyers are the highest level in Cambridge English's 3-level series of children's English. Once they have achieved the Flyers certificate, they can move on to Cambridge exams at a higher level such as KET, PET. These are internationally recognized certifications for study and work environments. Flyers are at the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). At this level, students can: Understand simple written English; communicate in similar situations; understand brief notices and simple verbal instructions; understand and use simple phrases and sentences; introduce yourself and answer basic questions about personal information; interact with English speakers when they speak slowly and clearly; Can write short and simple sentences.

  1. How the Starters, Movers and Flyers certifications are calculated

Each child's achievement is shown by  shield symbols  (Cambridge Logo) printed on the certificate with the maximum number of each child receiving is 5 pictures for each skill of Listening - Speaking - Reading - Writing. Thus, those who get a perfect score will get 15 shields. Although there is no rule on the number of pass and fail points, the average score that is considered "passed" is currently a total of 10 or more shields and each skill cannot be less than 2 shields.
